Change the size of your sprite with the arrow keys
Exercise: Make the sprite grow or shrink in size using the up and down arrow keys.

If you a need a hint or solution, click here.
- We will need blocks from the “Events” section. First select a “when space key pressed” block and change “space” to “up arrow”.
- Since we want the sprite size to increase we will need a block from the “Looks” section. Select the “change size by 10” block and give it a try by pressing the up arrow on your keyboard. The sprite should now be increasing in size.
- To decrease in size we will be performing the opposite operation. Feel free to right click on the existing blocks and select duplicate. Now edit “up arrow” to be “down arrow” and “10” to now be “-10” since we are now decreasing the size.
- You are now able to increase and decrease the size of your sprite.

Animate a sprite’s costumes
Exercise: animate through the various costumes of a sprite

If you a need a hint or solution, click here.
- In the case above we are making the sprite jump, so we will use the “when space key pressed” from the “Events” section, change “space” to “up arrow”.
- Select and use the “switch costume to “ballerina-b” from the “Looks” section.
- We want to simulate jumping so we will use a wait block from the “Control” section, in this case “wait 0.2 seconds”, feel free to adjust the “wait” numbers.
- Select and use the “switch costume to “ballerina-c” from the “Looks” section.
- Next use another “wait 0.2 seconds”.
- Select and use “switch costume to “ballerina-d”.
- Select and use “wait 0.2 seconds”.
- To jump up use “change y by 100” from the “Motion” blocks, we are using “y” since moving up or down is in the y axis.
- Next use “wait 0.2 seconds” from the “Control” blocks
- Now we will be using a negative value for “y” to come down, “change y by -100”
- Finally we will change to our original costume, “switch costume to “ballerina-a”
- You are now able to press the “up arrow” key on your keyboard and see your sprite animate through its costumes while jumping up and down.
